Bricology
The Bricology range integrates wildlife habitats into the built environment, providing safe, non-invasive spaces for birds, bats, and bees. Our solutions blend effortlessly with building facades, supporting biodiversity without compromising architectural aesthetics. By addressing the urgent need for conservation, Bricology habitats contribute to a sustainable and wildlife-friendly future.
Bricology Habitats

Bricology Starling Box
Tailored to meet the nesting needs of the Red List starling, this three-course-high unit offers a secure, species-appropriate habitat that can be seamlessly integrated into new or existing brickwork. With a customisable clay brick finish, the Bricology Starling Box protects vulnerable wildlife while complementing architectural design. Its presence also offers an opportunity to observe nesting behaviour between April and August, enriching both biodiversity and community engagement.

Bricology Bat Box
Designed to support the UK’s declining bat populations, the Bricology Bat Box provides a discreet, durable habitat for hibernation and maternity roosting. Measuring five brick courses high, the unit offers excellent thermal properties and requires minimal maintenance. It can be integrated into new builds or retrofitted into existing facades using your choice of facing bricks to blend with the surrounding architecture. This makes it an effective solution for meeting biodiversity targets while promoting ecological harmony. For optimum results, we recommend consulting an ecological specialist for placement advice.

Bricology Sparrow Box
With house sparrow populations in serious decline, the Bricology Sparrow Box provides essential nesting space for this red-listed species. The compact two-course-high unit includes an access aperture leading to a protected cavity behind the brick face. It can be faced in a range of clay bricks to match your existing or planned façade. Ideal for residential applications, these boxes are best positioned 2–4 metres above ground with a clear flight path, away from areas used by house martins.

Bricology Bee Brick
The Bricology Bee Brick is a single-unit nesting solution for solitary bees, designed to combat habitat loss and promote pollination. Crafted from clay-facing bricks and featuring access holes of varied diameters, the Bee Brick accommodates a wide range of bee species. Suitable for installation at 1–5 metres on sun-facing elevations, it integrates effortlessly into both contemporary and traditional designs. When faced with Michelmersh Group brickwork, the unit blends naturally into the building envelope while actively supporting local biodiversity.
Supporting local wildlife
Modern construction often disrupts habitats, contributing to the decline of species like sparrows, starlings, bats, and bees. Bricology habitats are a proactive solution, integrating wildlife spaces directly into building facades to support population recovery. These habitats enable species to thrive in urban environments while fostering a stronger connection between people and nature.
Easy to integrate, priceless for the planet
Bricology products are crafted with flexibility in mind, allowing them to be faced with a variety of clay bricks to match any existing or planned facade. This ensures you can provide ecological support without compromising the architectural integrity of your building.
Optimal placement for maximum impact
Strategic placement is key to supporting the target species for each habitat type. Builders should consider ideal heights, orientations, and local conditions and consult ecological specialists for best results. These habitats integrate easily into the building process for straightforward installation.
The FabSpeed team would be happy to talk through your requirements and to establish if sourcing products for retrospective installations is possible for your project.
