Sustainability

Sustainability is at the core of The Michelmersh Groups values, we are committed to playing our part in the move to a lower-carbon economy, helping the Government to achieve its target of Net Zero by 2050.

Michelmersh Inspiration

Sustainability

At FabSpeed, sustainability considerations shape the way we work. As part of the Michelmersh Group, we focus on reducing waste, lowering carbon emissions, and improving resource efficiency. By refining our manufacturing processes and integrating eco-conscious design, we create prefabricated solutions that support both the built environment and the natural world.

Our commitment to a sustainable tomorrow

We align with Michelmersh Group’s targets to deliver measurable environmental and social impact by 2030:
Reduce carbon emissions
We aim to lower our operational carbon footprint across all processes.
Increase resource efficiency
We minimise material waste through advanced manufacturing techniques.
Support biodiversity
We help our partners incorporate ecological solutions, like Bricology, into their projects.
Empower local communities
We cultivate partnerships that create opportunities and lasting social value.

Group Targets

Creating a positive environmental, social, and economic legacy for future generations is core to creating quality products that will enhance the built environment, making beautiful, durable, and safe architecture for many generations to benefit from.

Determined to continue being the sustainable face of clay brick manufacturing and with the support of its Chief Executives, its dedicated Sustainability Group and Net Zero Steering Group, Michelmersh has already lead numerous decarbonisation projects to minimise its environmental impact and increase its already efficient production methods with state-of-the-art technology, reporting systems and quality standards.

The Michelmersh Group achievements

As the Group strives to reduce its carbon emissions and environmental impact, it seeks to create biodiversity net gain, improve employee wellbeing, and embrace technology innovation across the business, creating value to all its stakeholders.

There are a wide variety of potential projects that Michelmersh propose to embrace, highlighted on the road map below to achieve net zero. These will include a wider roll-out of more energy generation and resource efficient production methods, alternative new technologies or fuel switching, such as but not limited to hydrogen or biomass or more electrification through renewables, with the addition of carbon capture, use & storage.

From the first approach of reduction, to pursuing alternatives, we will only look to offset any emissions at the end of this analysis, focusing diligently on transforming the trajectory of our ‘in control’ emissions first and foremost. Michelmersh is dedicated to ‘Shaping Genuine Sustainability‘.

Progress we’re proud of

Here are a few of the goals we’ve achieved already.
Carbon neutral production
We’ve successfully achieved carbon neutrality across multiple facilities, with more on the way.
Energy efficiency
We’re transitioning to renewable energy sources, improving energy performance group-wide.
Recycling inititatives
Over 90% of our manufacturing waste is diverted from landfill through recycling and re-use programs.
Environment-first products
We’re always developing sustainable solutions like Bricology habitats to support biodiversity.
